Jaisalmer Desert Festival Feb 12-14
A most photogenic dreamy scene straight from an exotic tale! A continuous wave of color and motion, desert folk music and dance, and welcoming smiles during this joyous desert festival. Beautiful saried women adorned in tribal jewelry, men with long mustaches, tall red turbans, decked-out camels, glorious tents, village handicrafts; all creating a spectacular picture on a canvas of endless sand dunes. In town where we will stay, we will be amongst a city of exquisite sandstone architecture and gorgeous havelis. We will enter the 12th century Fort - said to be the largest in the world, which has four massive gateways in each direction. Within it is the Raj Mahal (royal palace), Jain temple, a Laxminath temple, havelis of wealthy merchants from hundreds of years ago, housing several eateries and shops.
